Life Happens #9

Hey guys!

I haven’t been updating you guys for the past few weeks because November is college application month. I have been busy with trying to get my grades up in math and working on just being healthy and all there. Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to.

School
Math has been my biggest issue. There are times where I understand most of the content, but other times I totally blank out. I think the issue is more of understanding and remembering the lesson. For some reason, everything just slips away the second I leave the classroom. I spent most of the Thanksgiving break trying to understand math and working on a fifty problem extra credit worksheet that I’m definitely not finishing. Not because I don’t understand (but I do don’t understand some things), but it’s the fact that I have no time to finish the rest of the problems.

Besides math, I’m actually doing pretty good with all my other areas of study. Drawing class is pretty easy, but it’s a little fast paced. At least I’m learning something fun this year. Economy is nerve racking because of a presentation that we have to do in December. Hopefully I don’t mess up too much. African American Heritage Studies is such a fun place. Everyone is chill and gets along really well. English and Forensic Science are some of my easier classes.

Personal
I have organized my closet to the best of my abilities this week. I’m still in the process of getting a few hangers for jeans and skirts, but I’m hoping to be done during winter break. I’ve also started to make my own little space where I can have a desk and some crafting items so I can have someplace to work on homework and crafting projects.

That’s all for this week! What have you guys been up to?

Thoughts//Thanksgiving

Hey guys!

Thanksgiving seems like a really overlooked holiday. It doesn’t seem to be about being grateful anymore, but more about the food. And shopping. Since Black Friday is right after Thanksgiving, I feel like most people have forgotten what Thanksgiving is suppose to be about.

Thanksgiving is about being grateful. It is about spending a day with family and thanking whatever God, being, etc. that you believe in for giving you all that you have in your life. Yes, I know being grateful everyday sounds better than just being grateful one day, but this one day gives people an excuse to come together. Thanksgiving gives people a reason to take a day off and spend it with people they care about.

Thanksgiving is about family. Even if half of your family makes you want to puke or wish you were never born to them, this should be one of those days to make amends. Or, at least be thankful you didn’t end up with worst people. We can’t choose our family, but we can choose how we act and respond to that family. So take a deep breath when that annoying cousin starts jabbering about how amazing her boyfriend is and asking about your love life. You only have to deal with her for one evening unless she lives with you. Then I can’t help with that. ;)

Thanksgiving is partially about the food. What’s Thanksgiving without the turkey, turducken, or for my family, pig? This is one of those times where the special recipes comes out and that favorite dish of yours is served in abundance. Don’t miss the opportunity for food!

That’s it for today guys! I hope you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving! What’s your favorite part of the holiday?

Tippin' Tuesday//Smaller Closet

Hey guys!

Since I only have a small bit of space, I have to be conscious of what I buy for my wardrobe. It’s easy to buy a lot of random clothing and end up having a closet bursting with pretty pieces I’ll never wear. So here’s a few tips on keeping a small closet.

NOW YOU SEE ME….
An easy way to keep track of all your clothes, is to make sure you can see every single one. I fold my clothes so that I can see every item in my drawers. My closet is organized so that all the thicker clothes are near one end and it thins out once you get to the other end. That helps me know if I need to get a thicker jacket when winter comes along or if I need to repair or buy a new item.

LOVE IT OR HATE IT
Since I’ve become more conscious of my style, I am a lot more critical on what I wear. If I don’t really love something, it goes in the donate pile. Why keep something that you don’t really love?

HANG IT UP
If you don’t like something, but don’t want to give it up just yet, hang it up where you can see it. Once you have it up where you can see it, then you have the opportunity to wear it sometime in the week. If you don’t grab it at all during the week, then maybe it’s time to give it up.

MIX AND MATCH AND MIX AND MATCH
Having a small wardrobe can seem like you have nothing to wear. This is a great opportunity to learn how to mix accessories and match certain pieces. Search online for inspiration and have fun with it!

That’s it for what I do to maintain a small closet! What do you guys think? How do you maintain a small closet? Leave a comment down below!

Tippin' Tuesday//Finding Clothes You Love

Hey guys!

As most of you know, I may or may not have an addiction to shopping. I've learned to curb my grabby hands and found a couple of tips that would be helpful in making sure you love everything you buy.

SET A LIMIT
Set a limit of how much you want to spend before going out. You'll be less likely to spend on something random and more likely to find something worthwhile.

RESEARCH
Before you buy anything, go online. See which stores have what you're looking for and how much they're selling it for. It'll save the hassle of going through too many stores looking for an item, only to find out the last one was sold 5 minutes before. Save yourself the grief and research.

BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU
Family, friend, bring someone who will help you figure out if something is right for you. They'll be as truthful as they can be. If they can't see you wearing it, but you love the clothing, leave it and browse around for a bit. If the shirt, dress, whatever is still on your mind, go back for it. The more you love it in the store, the more likely you'll wear it.

WEAR COMFY CLOTHING
It'll be easier for you to change and puts you in the mood to see what's right for you. You'll be more likely to find something amazing if you're willing to change to try out clothing.

WHEN IN DOUBT, COME BACK LATER
If you don't know if you love or hate it, come back later. You won't regret buying something if you realize that you hate what you bought. You can always see if the store has layaway if you're seriously considering buying something, but aren't sure if you'll wear it.

That's it for today! What tips do you have for finding something amazing to wear? Leave a comment down below!

Tippin' Tuesday//Membership Cards

Hey guys!

I love shopping which means that membership cards are always a good investment. They're easy to apply for, you can use your phone number if you don't have the physical card on you(depending on the store), and of course, the savings help a ton. Here's a list of stores that have membership cards that are definitely worth getting. In parentheses is whether or not sign up is free.

Macy's (Free)
JC Penny's (Free)
Styles For Less ($5 for 1 year)
Hot Topic (Free?)
Certain thrift shops have their own memberships-just ask them! (Varies by shop)

Well that's a short list...of course these are just a few stores that I frequent where I know they have discounts for their customers. I am a creature of habit and like to stick to stores that I'm familiar with, so if you know a place that has a great membership program, drop a line in the comments!

Life Happens #8

Hey guys!

This week was full of homework that I procrastinated on and I tried to figure out about what I want to do with my life after high school. Here's what I decided on...

School
Since this is my last year of high school and I am expected to go to college, I decided to just apply to community college. Yes. I said community college. I am one of those people who don't know what they want to do in life. I am not spending thousands of dollars on classes where I could get almost the exact education in a community college. Also, community college is a little bit more hands on than "bigger" colleges. The classes are more time manageable so I'll be able to get a job while learning. I honestly can't wait for this year to end so that I can start applying to stores and work on what I want to do later on in life.

Right now, I am working on a poem analysis essay so if anyone has any tips for that, leave one down below!

Health
My sleeping pattern has somewhat mellowed out. I now sleep at around one o'clock instead of three or four. I am getting to my goal of 12 o'clock, but I know that Thanksgiving break may break it. Let's hope I can stick to this 'early' bedtime.

Personal
I'm not participating in NaNoWriMo this year because I'm focusing on school. Although I would really like to write for thirty days straight on something, I can't really do that right now. Maybe I'll do a quick outline during Thanksgiving break and write for the rest of my winter break in December.

My friend is having a Debut, which is a Filipino coming out. Girls have theirs on their 18th while guys on their 21st. Girls get 18 dances with 18 guys who give them 18 roses. I think they also get 18 main presents (called treasures) and speeches (called candles)  from people close to them. I'm not really sure about the  number presents and candles. I am actually dancing as an introduction to her party so I am learning a dance routine with her almost every Sunday and some random dates thrown in.

Blogging
I was tagged in the One Lovely Blog award! Yay! Look out for that post soon since I am trying to find blogs that haven't been tagged yet because it seems that most people I follow have already done it. This is a great opportunity for you guys to learn more about me since I'm still working on my 'About Me' page. It's taking a longer time than I thought it would.

That's it for this week! What have you guys been up to this week?

Haul//Styles For Less

Hey guys!

There's a Styles For Less store nearby the place I usually get my books and I had finally convinced my dad to take me there. I really liked the overall look of the store, but I found that the layout seems to go from a gradual hipster grunge clothing to girly boho as you walk deeper into the store.

I also found it a bit odd how they charge their membership for $5 for one year. So I guess you have to keep buying a new one each time it expires, which is kind of he for me. I don't really mind, because I know I like to shop a lot and I really like what I got. Besides, you can always give your little card to someone or have them use your number for it.

They were having a sale on their summer clothes and I scoped up a few items as well as some more fall/winter apparel. So let's check it out...

Strapless bra/Banadues
I definitely need more of these for those days where I only want to wear an oversized sweater with jeans or leggings.

Cropped blue shirt
This shirt only covers my boobs and is definitely only for summer. Maybe it'll look good layered, but it's too short to be worn as is right now. And yes, this is an excuse to get more into shape. I am a couch potatoe. I need a reminder to be more healthy sometimes.

Cropped floral shirt
I really like this crop top. It covers most of my tummy while still looking like a crop top. The lace details look adorable with the floral print also.

Shorts
I wanted something for those days where I just throw on some tights and shorts and walk out the door. With a shirt of course. I found these shorts on the sales rack and decided why not. They're really comfy even though it is a little big, but they're drawstring shorts and I can tighten them if I want to.

Earrings
They were having a buy one get one 50% off sale, so I bought a few pairs of earrings. Who doesn't need more jewelry?

Headband
I wanted something that contrasted with my hair and I really like how the color gold stands out. It also looks great with my skin tone. This headband has a floral pattern that looks like a rose. It fits really nicely on my small head.

Black lace bow
I love this now because it's huge and has an alligator clip. It's not one of those flimsy small ones, but it's huge and really grips my hair tight.

Nail polish
I got three because of the 3 for $5 sale. A nice burgundy color that reminds me of fall,  a dark purple, and a nice dark minty color. I'm not sure of the quality, but I'm willing to try it for the price.

That's it for this haul! I had a fun time trying to find items that fit my wardrobe and I think I did a pretty good job.

What did you guys think of what I got? Have you gotten anything that made you think, "Now there's something I'd rock!" or "I just HAVE to get this!"? Leave a comment down below!

Life Happens #7

Hey guys!

This week went by pretty quickly. Here's what had happened...

School
I did pretty good at my math test. Of course, I did get a few problems wrong, but I understood the majority of the content.

We had an earthquake drill on Thursday. Standing around on the baseball field where there was a lot of goose poop was not fun.

Health
I have been sleeping earlier lately. I've been really good at making sure I have enough sleep most of the time, but some days I pull all nighters. At least it's not every night right?

Personal
I am in like. Yes, I am telling you all that I have a crush on someone. I just can't hold it in! Hahaha! He's very intimidating though because he's on the debate team on my school. He gives off an intense vibe and it just pulls me in. Plus he's cute. XD

Besides that, I have been trying to curb my spending habits. It's getting out of hand. I've been shopping a lot and it's not good for my closet and my dad's wallet. I don't have a job because well, I am not allowed one. Sucks right?

Anyway, I have been cleaning up my room so I would have more room to study and be me. Well, as much as I can when I share a room with my grandma and with my younger brothers always intruding. Family, what can you do?

We didn't go trick or treating this year because of the rain. I was pretty bummed out about it, but I got to nap for a little while. And all the trick or treater candy is now mine. As long as my brothers don't find them. ;)

That's it for this week! Pretty boring as always, but hey! At least Halloween items go on sale now! Lots of decor I can add to my room soon!

What have you guys been up to?
