Style It//Winter In California

Hey guys!

These outfits are based on what I wear during winter in California. I know that they aren't practical for other regions (especially when it snows), but as always these are suggested outfits. I usually revert back to big shirts and jeans with a skirt thrown in on days where I feel fancy. It doesn't really take much for me to get up and go in the morning.

Holiday Special//I'm Not Into Thanksgiving (But I Celebrate It Anyway)

Hey guys!

The only holiday I really celebrate is Halloween. Free candy? Dressing up? Free candy?! Sign me up! Which is why Thanksgiving isn't on my radar. I laugh whenever the Christmas commercials come on right after Halloween. Sure, the holiday break is great and all, but the story behind Thanksgiving makes me cringe.

The best way to sum up why I'm not into Thanksgiving is to point you to The Oatmeal's comic Columbus Day. We all know the story of Columbus and how Thanksgiving was a result of what happened. Or at least that's the basics of what I learned in school. To be honest, all I remember from my elementary school days is how they kept cutting down on recess time.

But I digress. There are many reasons why like The Oatmeal's comics, and how he researches things is one of them. There may be some controversy on the information, but let's be real. Anyone in those times had murky motives and bad teeth. Yes, we can acknowledge that Columbus did create the America of today, but we all know the cost of creating America which isn't something that I like to celebrate.

What do I celebrate during Thanksgiving is food. Yes, I celebrate food. I also celebrate the nice break that I get from college, even if it's only two days. I would say that I like to be thankful for Person A or Item B, but I can do that any day of the year. There's this huge push to tell people that you're thankful for them during this holiday and if it suits you, go ahead and tell people that you're thankful for them. I try to tell people that I'm thankful for them in my head because despite the fact that I can an emotional person, I just can't sum up that emotional side during a face to face conversation. It's too draining for me.

That is why I'm not into Thanksgiving, but I celebrate it anyway. Because food, ya know? Also, sorry for being gone for a whole week! College life is exhausting and real life is a pain.

Hey guys!

Today was a nice week. I had a small break from school on Wednesday because of Veteran's Day and I as able to get ahead in NaNoWriMo. So here's how my week went down.

Since I'm doing NaNoWriMo (you can see my progress on my now useful book blog), I have been trying to get to certain word counts every day. If you want to know more about how I'm doing with NaNoWriMo, check out the other blog.

Since I've gotten to comic books recently, I've been trying to find series that I'd be able to start and collect easily. The comic series I've been following are ones that have been recently created or are in their second printing. I found the Harley Quinn: Hot In The City Volume One in my local comic book store and was instantly in love with her.

Another comic book series that I'm in love with is Bitch Planet. I love the essays in the back of the book. It really gives me something to think about after reading the comic. I definitely reccommend this comic to people who like to read about how feminism is important to the modern world and to people who like complex characters and story lines.

I am neglecting schoolwork. I kind of expect it as when November and December rolls around, my depression gets worst which affects my learning and motivation to work on homework. I'm working on catching up on my math and English homework this weekend while at the same time reaching my word count goals for NaNoWriMo.

Although I'm behind on homework, I think I'm going to do well on Finals. The schedule for Finals is a little weird for me since it's my first semester of college, but I'm hoping that I won't oversleep and miss one of my classes.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

Style It//Harley Quinn: Hot In The City (Comic Book Inspired)

Hey guys!

Last week, I did a post on Paper Girls which is one of the comic book series that I am currently following. Today I'm focusing on Harley Quinn. She's one of my favorite villains. I love her background story and how she's progressed in character development throughout the years. It's the Harley Quinn: Hot In The City Volume One book that I'll be drawing outfit inspiration from. The book has comics 1-6 of the The New 52 series by DC Comics.

I can't find the exact outfit for Harley Quinn because she tends to wear two toned clothing. I'm doing the outfit that she wears in comic one which is basically color blocked red and black clothing. Also featured is Big Tony who becomes one of her close friends in this series. I liked his outfit and feel like it could be something someone would wear on a night out with friends at the club. Poison Ivy comes along in comic book three or four and her outfit in this series is more like a body suit. Since I can't find one exactly or as close as the one she has in the series, I did a more modern look with a little bit of references to her character.

Haul//Ghost Town's Light the Flame Bundle

Hey guys!

I recently got my preorder Light the Flame bundle from Ghost Town. Ghost Town's new music is vastly different from their old stuff. Take a listen with the videos down below.

Personally, I like the direction they're going. It's always good to experiment with your band and music; you'll never know if you'll find something that speaks to you if you don't. They're not as creepy as they used to be, which might be influenced by one of their members leaving. No matter the reason, I think they still retain a slight creepy factor. It seems more toned down than the last two albums, but it's still there.

In the Light the Flame bundle, you get the new album CD and a downloads, six shirts, and a signed CD slip thing. I'm not really sure what to call it, but it's a picture of their album cover that they signed. It's one of the only signed item that I have from a band and I love it.

The six shirts don't come at the same time, but they'll be shipped throughout the year. I'm sure I'm going to forget about buying them and be surprised every time I get one! The first shirt was sent with the CD and CD cover. I can't wait to get the rest of the shirts. I decided on a size small since band shirts are usually slim and smaller than regular shirts. It was the perfect fit for me.

I'm really happy that I was able to buy the bundle. Since it was only available when you preorder, I was lucky enough to be able to splurge on it. I've been a fan since 2013 when they released their After Party album which was an updated version of their first CD. I'm really proud of how far they've come.
