December Challenge 2015//Happy New Year's Eve!

Hey guys!

I know that I said I'd have a 2015 Favorites Part Two, but I decided that there are more important things than talking about what I loved this year. Like the following YouTube video.

That's it for this year! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//2016 Goals

Hey guys!

I'm posting 2015 Part Two tomorrow because I misplaced a few items while I was cleaning my room. For now, here are my goals for 2016.

GOALS OF 2016

Get a B or high A in each of my classes next semester
Since this is my first year of college, I want my year to end on a good note. Getting good grades will definitely make me feel like I accomplished something this year.

Learn the ocarina
I'm struggling with learning how to play this instrument. I have the resources, but my motivation is at an all time low. I'm trying to get into a routine, but it's not working out so great.

Start and continue a bullet journal/art journal
Almost every studyblr has some variation of the bullet journal. I want to make one that's more geared to inspiring me to actually do my work which is why I'm adding a lot of art and creativity to the one I'm making.

Create original content for my studyblr
Although I love to reblog lots of posts on my studyblr, I want to be able to create my own content. I'm starting small and just posting an original picture or something similar once a week for now.

Read at least one book a month
Next semester, all of my classes are in the morning. That gives me free afternoons where I can study and work on my goals. I'm aiming to read and to finish one book a month.

I only have a few goals for next year because it'll be easier to focus and complete a small amount of goals. I can also put this down in my new bullet journal and have it with me as a reminder that I have somethings to accomplish this year.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//2015 Favorites Part 1

Hey guys!

I have a few things that I've been in love with this year. Part one is filled with items like comic books, stationary, and other such sections. I didn't have a lot of favorites in other categories, but I wanted to separate these sections from the makeup and beauty sections since it'll be longer than I'd like it to be.

Comic Books
Harley Quinn: The New 52: I feel in love with Harley Quinn this year. I didn't know what I was missing out all these years.
Paper Girls: A new comic series from Image. There's a lot of surprises even though there's only three issues outs.
Island: An anthology of comics. I love reading the different series and learning about new artists.

Stationary
Uni-Ball Signo 207: I love how thick the ink. It's a lot easier for me to read what I write.
Yoobi Mini Highlighters: I'm not sure if I had these in last year's favorites, but these cute highlighters make it easy for me to carry around in my backpack.
Sharpie Pens: A nice thin line for making graphs and diagrams for notes. I like how you can buy them individually so you can make your own pen set.

Websites
KeyBr: I mentioned this in yesterday's post. I've been using this a lot lately to improve my typing speed. I'm currently 50wpm.
Tapastic: My favorite site to read online comics. I love the GamerCat.
WeHeartIt: It's really easy to like pictures. I use this site to print out pictures I like for collages and such.

Games
I Love You Like A Fat Lady Loves Apples: I'm not sure what the purpose of this game is, but you just keep feeding apples to the fat lady.
Sushi Cat: I mentioned this game in yesterday's post. I really love the simplicity and fat cats in the game.
Don't Look Back: It's based on the myth Orpheus/Eurydice. Simple, but can get challenging when the monsters come at you all at once.
Neko Atsume: You fill up a bowl of cat food and attract cats into your yard. Buy items to attract different cats and get souvenirs.
Impossible (iOS): You need to match your drawings to the one that's shown to be able to get to each section. To win, you need to match every sign in each section and get the whole cube unlocked.
This game that used to be called Witch Defense, but whose title is now in Japanese. I'd leave a link, but I don't know what the title of the game is now in Japanese.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Some Cool Websites & Other Such Stuff

Hey guys!

I've been obsessed with my studyblr lately. I went through a lot of different masterpost, looking to reblog some cool stuff. I found a lot of great games and videos that I'd like to share with you guys! There's some educational sites thrown in too for when you want to study, but not really study. If you know what I mean. I might also link some of my favorite 8track playlists for people looking for something new to listen to.

WEBSITES
KeyBr
This site helps you with learning how to touch type. Touch typing is typing without looking at your keyboard. I'm guilty of spelling words wrong and using spell check for a document later because my hands have gotten weird pains from typing so much. I also can't reach the back space key with my pinky finger since my hand isn't use to doing that. I'm using this site to improve my typing speed and accuracy.

printwhatyoulike
This site does what it's titled. Just put the URL of the website that you want to print out, and then you can rearrange the text or remove text to print out what you need. It's really helpful for long articles where you just need a passage and tumblr posts where you just want a specific paragraph or picture.

Hemingway App
It's like paperrater, but is more in depth about editing your essay. The use of highlighting the parts to differentiate each error makes it easier to figure out what you did wrong.

Wolframalpha
Solve math equations. Rule the world.

GAMES
Sushi Cat
A short game about a blue cat who eats a lot of sushi to get to a pink cat. It's a cute storyline and can be challenging if you don't drop the cat right. That sounded a lot better in my head.

Free Rice
I played this game while in high school to learn more Spanish. They have a variety of subjects to choose from. I forgot all about it until I saw it being posted just about everywhere this year. You donate 10 pieces of rice for every question you get right. Learn while helping someone eat.

How To Raise a Dragon
This game is really short. You play as a dragon and there are multiple endings depending on what you choose throughout the game.

Roller coaster Rush
You're in charge of roller coasters. Enough said.

Haunt The House
As the ghost, you try to scare everyone out of your house.

VIDEOS
This list of videos is great for when you want to scare yourself to sleep. Keep the lights on when you watch them though. They get intense.

Studyign has great videos about how to memorize and other school related topics.

PLAYLISTS
You Told Me We Were Fighters by SADarcy
All of SADarcy's playlists are gold.

December Challenge 2015//Makeup Haul

Hey guys!

My family and I went grocery shopping today. I picked up a few things from the grocery store then at at a Rite Aid at a different location.

I bought:
3 NYC Individual Eyes Palettes for $2 each
3 Miss Manga Mascaras for $3 each
2 Rimmel London Lipsticks
1 Rimmel London Lip liner

The NYC Palettes are (from left to right): Pink Sunset, Union Square, and Pastel Rainbow. I choose the first two palettes because they were limited edition and looked really interesting. The last palette had really nice colors for brown eyes and the purple shadow looked gorgeous.

The Miss Manga mascara colors I bought were: purple, blue, and teal. There wasn't a black version of this mascara available, so I decided to try out the ones the store did have. The colors seem out there, but they would look great with a natural makeup look that needs a dash of color.

The two Rimmel London lipsticks are: Oh So Wicked and One Of A Kind while the lip liner is Under My Spell. I fell in love with Oh So Wicked. It's a really dark plum color. One Of A Kind is a dark burgandy with Under My Spell is a dark violet.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Today Is My Christmas

Hey guys!

As of right now, I'm celebrating Christmas at my Uncle's place. I got two really nice pillows from him and my Aunt. Since, celebrations are still going on, that's it for today!

Happy Holidays!

December Challenge 2015//Happy Holidays! (And a Gift Idea or Two)

Hey guys!

It's Christmas Eve! It doesn't really feel like Christmas to me. Maybe it's because I had finals last week. I don't really know, but if you're still struggling with trying to find some gifts for people, I've got you covered.

GIFTS TO GET WHEN YOU ONLY HAVE UNDER TWELVE HOURS TO GET THEM

Makeup Sets
Obviously, makeup sets can be bought from any price range. There's no guesswork for you to try and figure out which shade of lipstick you should get someone. Just grab a pack and hope for the best.

Stationary Sets
For every person who likes to look at something pretty or the student that you know would rather look at cute dogs than their homework, stationary sets can be found just about everywhere. If you can't find one that suits the person you want to give it to, make your own set! Buy things that you think your recipient will like, and you can stay under any budget that you've set.

Board Games
If you want to destroy any holiday cheer, buy Monopoly. Better yet, Pokemon Monopoly. Get schooled by your friends/siblings/kids.

Books That Are About To Become Movies/TV Shows (Or, Are Already Movies/TV Shows)
The 5th Wave.
Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies.
The Hunger Games trilogy in the new cool neon covers.
The Harry Potter gift set with all seven books and creates Hogwarts with the spines.
The Mortal Instrument Series.
Winnie The Pooh.
The Giver.
Alice Through The Looking Glass.
The BFG.
The Magicians.
Just search google for book adaptions and you'll find something for the reader on your list.

If all else fails, money or gift cards are the way to go. Then you don't have to go through the crowds of people that are trying to get their last minutes gifts.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Comic Book Haul

Hey guys!

I went to the comic book store on either Sunday or Monday. I was looking for the latest issue of Bitch Planet, but unfortunately, my comic book store didn't have it. Instead I grabbed a few different items.

Comics:
Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat: A Calvin And Hobbes Collection
Fuck Fairyland Issue #3
Wytches Issue #2 & #3

I love Fuck Fairyland, but the latest issue makes me want to choke the writer. I can't believe he did that! I had bought the first issue of Wytches in a different visit that I didn't write about in this blog since I was going there practically every weekend last month. I only got two issues even though they had up to issue #6 because I wanted to keep the suspense up for a little bit longer. My younger brother picked out the Calvin and Hobbes Collection since I promised to get him something for coming with me. We already have a Calvin and Hobbes Collection featuring the most popular comics, however there were a lot of comics that I haven't read in this collection.

Pop! Figures:

Lord Voldemort
Hermione Granger

I decided on these two figures because I ship them. Oh yes, I'm one of those people. There's just something appealing about having Hermione go to the dark side or reading Voldemort play mind games with her. I just love it.

These two items were actually displayed at the front of the store in the 'Free Previews' section. I thought the calendar would be a nice touch to have in my room while the Star Wars preview had a nice cover. I haven't seen Star Wars, so I'm not really invested in the franchise. I do like the look of some of the comics and might make a collage or something similar using the pages in the future.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//What Eyebrow Game?

Hey guys!

Since getting my eyebrows waxed for the first time, I've been trying to figure out how to fill them in. I found a lot of helpful videos, but I wasn't finding the video that made me want my eyebrows to that kind of amazing. Then I found Wayne Goss' video about eyebrows. I've been subscribed to him for years on one of my other channels, however I wasn't keeping up with him as much as I used to. I watched the video thinking that I would find something new and cool. I wasn't disappointed.

The Instagram eyebrows are ones that I see everywhere. My cousins even do it. They do look amazing in photos, but in real life, they make a full face of makeup overwhelming. From Goss' video, I learned that the 'faded eyebrow' originated in drag shows. Therefore, when someone does their makeup full out, they are straddling drag queen territory. I laughed at out when I found that out since some of my family do this makeup look a lot. They did remind me of something, but I couldn't put my finger on what. I definitely agree with Goss' view that if you're going for a strong eyebrow game, to just keep everything else simple.

Now, I'm not saying that everyone should stop doing the 'faded eyebow'. If you want to do a full face of makeup, brows and everything, go ahead! I'm not going to stop you. Since I'm not into having a strong eyebrow game, I tend to just focus on my eye makeup. It's so much easier for me to just swipe on some eyeshadow and go. Although I'd like to have a nice eyebrow game, having natural eyebrows is easier than spending thirty minutes on doing my eyebrows. I swear I'd end up spending an hour trying to get my eyebrows the same shape, so who am I to judge if you want to do the 'faded eyebrow'?

What do you think about the 'faded eyebrow'? Leave a comment down below!

December Challenge 2015//A YouTube Hack (That Everyone Knew Except Me)

Hey guys!

I just found the best way to repeat YouTube videos. No, this isn't a sponsored post. I thought every person who commented this was joking about it working. But guys. It does work.

Well, it only works for certain videos. Vevo doesn't allow certain videos to be played on this site, but it's alright. You have a lot more videos to choose from. It's the 'how to repeat YouTube video' trick.

Just type in 'youtuberepeater.com' where it'll take you to the site. Search up a video and bam! Instant playback. Or you can type in 'repeat' in the URL bar at the top of a music video and see if it'll reload into the site. I tried to listen to Bring Me The Horizon's "True Friends" video on repeat, but Vevo had blocked the site from doing that. Besides that, the site plays back basically any video you want.

That's all I have to share with you guys today. I was going to do a comic book store haul, but the lighting was not so great. I might have just read my comics and almost forgot about posting tonight's blog post. Let's leave that haul for tomorrow.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Winter Break Goals

Hey guys!

I thought I'd share with y'all my goals for winter break. I have about six weeks of winter break and I have a lot to do.

GOALS

Clean my room
My room gets messy easily so I need a lot of time to clean up. I'm currently going through my old Seventeen Magazines, ripping out the pages I like most, and recycling the rest of the magazine.

Get a head start on my Statistics class
I want to be able to pass my math class with an A next semester. I think implementing good study habits now will really help me improve.

Start a bullet journal
I see this type of journal floating around in studyblrs. It looks like a nice way to organize, and I think it'll be fun to make a small one for classes. It'll certainly help when classes start again in January.

Learn how to fill in my eyebrows
I didn't mention this, but I got my first eyebrow waxing about two week ago. I'm trying to figure out the best way to fill them in so that they look even and natural. I haven't had a lot of practice which makes it a tad hard to keep them even. I'm hoping to be able to fill them in a nice, natural way by the end of break.

Have a steady sleep schedule
Since it is winter break, my sleep schedule will definitely change for the worst. I'm trying to sleep around ten to eleven as I know that I would want to stay up a bit more than I usually do. I don't want to end up crashing once school starts.

Those are my goals for this winter break. I only have a few goals as it's easier to remember them. I want to have a few goals that I can achieve since I know that I'll get distracted if I have more than five.

Do you have any goals this winter break? Leave a comment down below.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

LIFE HAPPENS #38

Hey guys!

It doesn't really feel like Christmas to me. I'm not sure if it's because of non-Christmas like atmosphere where I live or because I've gotten into studyblrs lately, however I have done something productive with my break.

I cleaned. It may not seem like a big deal to other people, but I have a notorious habit of making my room messy after cleaning it up hours before. I'm trying to stop that bad habit by making sure every item in my room has a place to go and by getting rid of any unnecessary items. For some reason, I have a lot of Seventeen Magazine lying around. They must be from my younger days of trying to keep up with the trends. I'm hoping to find a few storage items tomorrow to hold my crafting supplies and other small items.

Besides attempting to clean, I've been scrolling through a lot of studyblrs on tumblr. Studyblr is basically studying and tumblr. My previous post talks a little bit about what I'll be using my new studyblr for. I feel like studyblrs are something that people underestimate when it comes to finding ways to learn more about studying. I have learned about a lot of different resources that can help me improve my studying.

There isn't much else that's new with my life. Except for finding this band called AVIV. They only have two songs out, but I love them.

Have you been productive this week? What bands do you recommend I listen to? Leave a comment down below!

December Challenge 2015//I Have a Studyblr

Hey guys!

School has only been out for a few days for me, but I have the strangest urge to start studying. I blame studyblrs. Studyblrs are studying and tumblr together. They're basically tumblr blogs that focus on studying. I thought they were super helpful and decided to make my own!

My studyblr is called The Procrastination Station With Eliose. I'm currently just reblogging posts, but I'm hoping to post a few original pictures soon. Right after deleting room for more pictures on my iPod. My studyblr is basically a place for me to get inspired to study and to find links that will help me study smarter.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Recap of ZNation's Season 2

Hey guys!

*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO DON'T WATCH THE SHOW OR HAVEN'T CAUGHT UP. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. (Also, pictures are not mine.)

If you haven't been keeping up with my twitter, then maybe my ZNation spams are new to you. Every Friday during the new ZNation episodes, I tweet about my reactions and thoughts about what's happening in the show.

I've been a fan since the first episode with the zombie baby to tonight's episode that hasn't aired yet in the west coast. I've decided not to write what's going to happen in tonight's finale as I think watching it would make more since than the version I'm going to write below.

So here's a summary of what's happened in season two of ZNation:

Bite. Turn. Bite. Sunshine! The group's back together! NO RED!!! Blondie?! IT'S ONLY BEEN TWO EPISODES WHY?! Who the heck are you? Doc gets high again. Z-Weed is made of what? Plant zombies? This is not Plants VS Zombies guys. Baby mama?! PIE GIRL! Flirty, flirty. Goodbye. No! Baby? Queen Z. I love you. Bite. Bite. Chomp. Such a pretty child! Murphy? SUNSHINE! 10k is sad. Boats are not fun. Murphy, DIE! This guy doesn't collect Pokemon cards. Aliens? Oops, not aliens. A zombie free what now? The Grand Crayon is cool. Just kidding, we were never there. There's still corporate retreats? You poor suckers. Mafia? Wait, we're where now!? Nice, to meet an Evil Queen. Is that a cure? Oh shit, nope. Murphy why you do this? BACK STORY? REALLY, REALLY SAD BACK STORY. Not another diner.

Did you really think I was going to write paragraph after paragraph of a show that you can watch On Demand or on Netflix? Go watch it, now. To sum it up, this season was more of an emotional upheaval than the comedy and sass that could be found in the first season. We lost a few people and I'd like to honor them now.

Mack AKA Blondie. Although you and Red had an amazing time together, it was obvious that you two just couldn't move on from what happened season one. At least you died saving the person you love.

Serena AKA Pie Girl. I squealed the first time they said the nickname I gave you. I thought you were crazy, but you were crazy in love with Murphy and protected the people you cared about. Thanks for a good time.

Cassandra AKA Sunshine. This season hasn't been kind to you. From becoming some kind of human/zombie hybrid to becoming Murphy's sidekick?, you ended up looking like a Go-Go dancer with her pimp. (Seriously, where did they get her outfit from?!) You lost yourself and 10k had to do the impossible. You will be missed.

Now, it's time to say goodbye to season two with tonight's finale!

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//A New Favorite Pen

Hey guys!

Remember how I bought some Uni-Ball Signo 207 pens on Monday? I finally opened up the packaged and tried them out. They're so freaking perfect. I'm not kidding guys. These babies are amazing.

The Uni-Ball 207 pens have a nice thick line which means that they don't hurt your eyes from having to squint from reading your handwriting. They write smoothly and clearly. The pens feel like an expensive quality despite being about $9.79 per pack. The pen grip doesn't dig into your finger like other pens. I love that as the finger that I rest my pen on almost always has some imprint from previous pens that have hard pencil grips.

I think this might even replace my love for PenGems, but I like my PenGems(review here) too much to really replace them. PenGems have replaceable barriels while the Uni-Ball doesn't seem to have any in stores. I'd do a little writing test, but my PenGems needs their barrels replaced.

All in all, these pens are so much better than the G-2 Pilot. Oh yes, I went there. The G-2 Pilot was a nice friend for a while, but after trying out the Uni-Ball 207, I fell in love with the pen. There's no going back now.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//College Panel Experience & Presents From the Best Friend

Hey guys!
Today I spoke as a guest speaker for a college panel at my old high school. The first period was kind of rough as I really didn't know what to say. I said anything that came to mind first and since I was almost always last to answer, everyone usually said what I wanted to say. When that happened, I just reiterated what they said and added a bit of my own commentary. I did like speaking to high schoolers about my experiences in college. It was a fun way to spend my birthday.

Yes, I spent my birthday speaking to kids at school. That's one of my ideas of fun. My best friend came back from UC Davis so we hung around the shops near the high school for a bit. She treated me to a milk tea then after we went back to the Michael's near my place. She bought the grey shirt pictured below for me. I bought the rest of the items as a birthday present to myself. I always wanted to make little bottle charms and now I finally can!

Today was such a nice day. I turned nineteen and was able to finally get a few things I wanted from my "Wanted Craft Supplies" list.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Finals Are Finally Over!

Hey guys!

Today I had my last final for the semester. I feel like I did pretty well. I know that I got at least three wrong because I had no idea what the answers were. It's alright though because what my teacher told me after I finished the class made my day so much better.

Before I left the class for the last time, my teacher walked me out and closed the door. I thought she was going to just wave me goodbye. Instead I got a really heartfelt message. She told me that she was so proud of me for coming to class almost every week (the class only met on Thursdays) because she knew how hard it was for me to even get up in the morning. She went on to say that she was so happy that I stuck to it and that she was wishing for me to have a great future.

The only reply I could give her was a "Thank you". Although I'm a very expressive person, I was taken aback by what she told me. I felt like crying right there. She actually understood how hard it is for me when others didn't understand the struggle of even waking up and getting out of bed. I'm so thankful that I took her class as I learned so much about what I want to be in a few years and that she knew what I was going through.

I'm sad that I'm not going to be going to her class anymore, but I'm just so happy that she's proud of me. Good luck for all those who are still taking their finals!

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Stationary Haul

Hey guys!

I finished two of my three finals today. My last final got out at two o'clock, so my dad and I went to WalMart to buy some toothbrushes. Of course, I couldn't help myself and went around the different aisles to look at everything. I ended up getting two packs of pens and a light fabric transfer paper pack.
An overview of my haul
I was actually looking for some new workout gear, but found myself looking through the stationary aisle instead. Since I've become more interested in the Studyblr community, I decided that over my winter break that I'll be creating my own Studyblr account. Having an account seems like a great way to surround myself with people who love to study and who will hopefully influence me into actually studying.

I was about to get the G-2 Pilot pens, but I spotted the Uni-Ball Pens a shelf above them. The Uni-Ball Pens were about thirty cents cheaper than the G-2 Pilot pens and had a bit more pens than it too. I heard good reviews on a different style of these pens and thought that it would be fun to try out different brands while school's on break.

I love Sharpies. I have a small collection hiding away in my cabinet as I don't want to lose any of them. They can get pretty expensive. I saw these pens two rows under the G-2 Pilot pens and instantly fell in love. The designs are too cute and they're limited edition. I couldn't pass them up.

The fabric transfers were a surprise purchase. I didn't think WalMart carried them until I saw them hiding behind the printer paper and similar items on a shelf near the electronics section. They were about nine dollars, so I thought it would be a good way to experiment. I have a few ideas and designs I want to try out, but first I need to find the right shirt.

Now it's time for me to go back to studying. If you're also taking finals, break a leg!

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//A Socks Haul?

Hey guys!

I went to the mall today instead of studying for finals. Yes, I know. I should've stayed at home and studied. However, I believe in taking breaks to help your creativity flow and to make sure you don't end up having a breakdown on the day of the final. My dad ended up taking me and my brothers to the mall. I didn't think I'd get anything until I walked into Spencer's. I saw these socks and I couldn't just leave them. Spencer's was also having a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale which caused me to buy four pairs and get two free. I just love socks.

I bought:
  • Pikachu Knee High Socks
  • Charizard Knee High Socks
  • Harry Potter Seeker Socks
  • Harry Potter Slytherin Socks
  • Harry Potter Death Eater Socks
  • Harley Quinn Knee High Socks

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

LIFE HAPPENS #37

Hey guys!

I'm currently attempting to write my English final, so this post is just to let you know that I'm slowly losing my mind. That is all.

Also, drinking green tea with a pump of hazelnut syrup is surprisingly calming.

December Challenge 2015//Get That English Essay Final Done

Hey guys!

As of this instant, I have done nothing to help me with my finals. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Yes, I am setting a horrible example for others. Yes, I will be causing myself turmoil in the near future. However, I have been productive in finding sites and articles that are going to help me with my English essay. Since it's currently my main concern, I thought I'd show you guys a few more sites that will help your essay become stronger.

Paperrater: A FREE paper rater where they check grammar, plagiarism, and other items of that sort. The maximum number of pages it will check for free is five, but it's only about $8 per month to upgrade it to twenty pages and to get more features.

How Stuff Works: A great site to find articles about various topics. I use the Works Cited pages of each article to find relevant information for my essays.

Scholarpedia: An alternative to Wikipedia, all articles are written by academic scholars whose articles are peer reviewed before being posted.

Purdue Owl: The best place to help you with citation. There's a lot of information about different citation styles and how to cite articles, YouTube videos, etc.

This Tumblr post that goes in depth about writing a university level paper. I'm currently using it to write my final and it's really giving me a lot of help in making my essay.

What do you do that helps you write your English essay?

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Finals Playlist

Hey guys!

My finals are next Monday and Tuesday, so I need a little boost for them. Most of the music on this playlist will be having a few more songs added to it as the weekend ends. Hope you enjoy!

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Learning the Ocarina

Hey guys!

I first learned about the ocarina from Zelda. My brothers used to play it all the time on their DS Lites. Of course, I didn't really pay attention to the game; only enough attention to figure out who was Link and who was Zelda. I got interested in learning how to play the ocarina once I saw the Pokemon 2000 movie. I wanted to be just as magical as the Melody with her cool shell instrument. Melody's ocarina looks like a variation of the instrument and since it's not very common in the first place, it might be hard to find someone to teach you how to play it.

Then YouTube came along. A deep, dark hole of amazing possibilities. I finally found a teacher: David Erick Ramos. His entire channel is dedicated to playing the ocarina and teaching other's the basic. I praise his kind soul. I am currently learning from his "How to Play Ocarina" playlist.

If you want to learn a new instrument, I definitely recommend the ocarina. It's fun and easy to learn. You'll also have a cool way to make your Link cosplay shine.

That's for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//Finals Preparation

Hey guys!

My Finals are next week, and I'm kind of freaking out. I have my dance final on Friday, math and English on Monday, and personal development on Tuesday. There isn't much to study for in dance than to dance the choreography that my group and I created. However, for math, English, and personal development, I have to do a lot more. So here's what I'm using to help me with finals.

FOR ENGLISH
Usually, you get an essay due on the day of the final for an English final with a short exam on the same day. Luckily for me, my English final is only an essay that's four to five pages with a works cited page. I found a few resources that could really help out with it.

Mendeley: I just found this today. It's just amazing. Check out this post for more on how to use it to its fullest extent.

Evernote: I'm still iffy on using Evernote after losing about three years of notes a few years ago. I decided to give it another chance this year since I needed a place to back up my files.

The Citation Machine: Just like the title says, this site helps you find the right citation for your article, website, etc.

Easy Bib: Another helpful citation site. Citations are essential for essays.

FOR MATH
There's honestly no right way to study for math. You can make study guides, revise, or whatever it takes for you to get the information down in your head. I like to just skim through my notes, do a few chapter problems in the sections that need more work, and then believe in myself during the test. If I think I can do it, I'm more likely to make sure I do things correctly.

FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Since my personal development class is about career and life planning, I just need to read the articles and understand the material. It's that easy. For other similar classes, I suggest going through your notes to jog your memory about the material then work on the topics that you don't understand or need more time on.

There's no set way in preparing for finals. Just do what you can and believe in yourself. Also, check out my tumblr feed because I think it's starting to become a studyblr and personal life tumblr. It's very surprising.

December Challenge 2015//Helpful Studyblrs

Hey guys!

If you don't have a Tumblr, then maybe you don't know that there are many niche blogs that are focused on studying. There's a lot of helpful information in these blogs. The people running the accounts are friendly and always willing to help others who have questions. These tumblr accounts are under the tag Studyblrs and can usually be found if you just type in Studyblrs and the type of help you need, like math or English. Below are a few Studyblrs that I like to use to help me in school.

Study Habit has a lot of small posts that are helpful in creating a more healthy life while having time to study. I like There Are No Failures, Only Lessons post.

A Lovely Cliche is similar in navigation to a blog. Her posts range from fashion, lifestyle, and studying. One of my favorite posts is College 101: How to Overcome Math.

The Blog of an Organized High School Student was the first Studyblr I found. There's a lot of helpful tips in her archive, and she reblogs a lot of funny and inspiring posts.

Nighty Studying is a great place for IB students. I love the study guide masterpost. There's a lot of personal and uplifting posts on this tumblr. I definitely recommend going through the feed because there's a lot of helpful posts that have been reblogged.

If you have a Studyblr that you want me to check out or if you have a favorite Studyblr that I didn't mention, leave a comment down below!

December Challenge 2015//A Way To Help Improve Your Habits

Hey guys!

I've been watching a lot of Thomas Frank's YouTube videos. He's the creator of College Info Geek which is a great resource for students who need a more in depth approach to studying and various school related help. He mentions this website a few times in various videos and posts, so I decided to try it out for myself.

Habitica is a free habit tracking website. It's based on role playing games and rewards you every time you check something off.

I'm not going to get into the technical side and how to of the site since you can always look here for more information. I use this site to help me make sure I'm exercising and finishing up my To Do's. As you can see below, I have "Edit My NaNoWriMo" in the To Do column. I wanted to make sure that I'm actively working on it.

For me, I can easily check off what I've done and go onto the next thing. It's easy to navigate around the site and I like how you can go on quests. I haven't gone on any yet because you need a group and I'm not a social butterfly. I'm also the type of player who needs to be a few levels up before they can even think of going on adventures. Ask my Pokemon. We didn't get to the first gym until they were level fifteen.

Habitica has been really helpful with helping me keep up with what I need to do. The site does have an app for the iPhone and Android, but I haven't downloaded it since I already have a lot of apps on my iPod. I do recommend this site for people who like play games and want to have a more slightly interactive habit tracking site.

December Challenge 2015//Thrift Store Haul

Hey guys!

I just came home from a fun outing with my dad, my uncle, and my middle brother. We went to a thrift store where I ended up getting a few things. Okay, maybe a lot. Thrift stores are fun to browse around and get inspiration from. There's a ton of clothing that may inspire some kind of writing or maybe you find a book that would be expensive somewhere else.

In today's hunt, I wasn't really looking for anything. I was just browsing around, looking at clothes and asking myself, "Did people really wear these?" I had put away a large velvet thing when I spotted it. A Winne The Pooh Denim cut off vest. I couldn't help myself. I had to get it. It was $2.99 with a 25% discount. It's really whimsical and easy to pair with different outfits. I can already see myself in a long sleeve shirt, the Pooh vest, and my old lady cardigan. I couldn't leave it there.

After browsing around the clothes, I wondered into the book aisle. For me, certain thrift stores are a hit or miss with their books. Some have really amazing books like advance reader copies, or only have the kind of books that you'd find hiding away in the darkest corners of the library. Today was a treasure trove. I found a lot of young adult novels and even the entire Fallen series. I didn't get the Fallen series as I'm not interested in the series, but I thought it was amazing that it was there. I did get about ten books though. I'll be posting up the haul on my book blog since I want to go more in depth with them.

LIFE HAPPENS #36

Hey guys!

Last month I participated in NaNoWriMo and if you want to see a full post about it, check out my revived book blog. I was also swamped with college work since the semester is coming to a close. So here's what's been going on...

SCHOOL
School is going really well. There's only a full week of school left with two days of Finals for me. I'm starting to create study guides for math since I know I need to focus more on that subject. I'm not really about the essay final for English since it's an out of class essay. My Career and Life Planning class has a lot of information to study to, but I think I'll be able to manage it.

I also have my classes for next year. I'm taking four classes in total: Speech 101, English 101A, Math 159, and an Anthropology class. I need a speech class to transfer to a California State School so I wanted to get it out of the way. Math 159 is Statistics which I need for my major. It's a three hour class, and I'm hoping my teacher isn't too harsh in grading. The anthropology class I'm taking is about witchcraft and religion and is more for my personal learning that for transferring. I decided that the next two years, I'd rather have my classes at the main campus since most of my friends are all there. It's also so I can get more exercise. The main campus was built on hills. Lots of great leg work.

PERSONAL
I recently went to a Christmas event which can be read here. Since finishing NaNoWriMo, I don't really know what to do with my eighty four page novel. I have the urge to print it out, but it would use a lot of ink, and I don't know if I'm willing to read through it to cut things out. I might just print out each individual day and work from there.

I had gotten an early birthday present from my dad last weekend. It was a blue 2DS and the Pokemon Alpha Sapphire game. I'm hoping to get a Star Wars Lego set or a stationary set for Christmas. As you can see, I'm really taking my dive into adult hood well.

Since winter break is coming up and I have about four to six weeks of free time, I decided to get a job. I'm working on online resume on WordPress because it's easier for me to create a resume there. Of course, I'll be creating a print resume using Canva's made templates. They're great for more eye catching resumes.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!

December Challenge 2015//A Christmas Event (and Food Truck Review)

Hey guys!

I just got back from a community Christmas event with my brothers. I didn't take pictures because it gets dark in my area really fast. I couldn't really see anything, and I doubt that using flash in a huge crowd would go unnoticed. There wasn't as many food trucks or vendor booths as I thought there was going to be. I was disappointed, but decided to try out the food from one of the food trucks.

Roll Revolution is a food truck that specializes in gourmet egg rolls. I got the Philly egg rolls while my younger brother got the Hawaiian egg rolls. The Philly rolls was amazing. They had given us two sauces: nacho cheese and hot sauce. The Philly roll tasted so good with the nacho cheese and had a nice kick when dipped into the hot sauce. The Hawaiian roll was more like a spam musubi in roll form. If you haven't spam musubi, it's basically spam, rice, and seaweed. The Philly roll was $7 while the Hawaiin roll was $6. It's kind of pricey, but you do get three rolls for each order. All in all, I loved the taste of the rolls and would definitely buy more if I see the food truck again.

There was also a candle vendor, but I wasn't too into the scents they were selling. I didn't get a look at the other booths since it was so dark out. I did stay to hear the local elementary school choir sing for the masses. They sounded so adorable.

After the choir sang, I convinced my brothers to go to the nearby coffee shop to get some warm drinks. I had a peppermint cappuccino which was more bitter than I expected. I didn't really taste the peppermint, but I blame it on the fact that I didn't put any sweeteners in it. My younger brother bought a pumpkin spice latte, while the youngest decided to get the peppermint mocha. I had a sip of the pumpkin spice latte since I've never tasted it before. It was alright, but I don't really see the appeal of it. The peppermint mocha had such a kick of peppermint that I regret not getting it myself.

Once we got our drinks, we went home. There wasn't much to do at the event, but at least we got food and drinks out of it.

December Challenge 2015//A Weekend Playlist

Hey guys!

I decided to make a quick playlist of what I've been listening to this week. I like all kinds of music so my playlist and music library is a vast, dark hole of different genres. I've been listening to a few songs on repeat so my playlist is a little small. I hope you like still like it though.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading (and listening)!

December Challenge 2015//Comic Books Make Me Broke

Hey guys!

I have been to my local comic book store a total of five times in the last few weeks. My first ever comic was an Adventure Time exclusive from Hot Topic a day before the visit. The comic was focused on Marceline the Vampire Queen who is one of my favorite characters. From then on, I was hooked on finding the rest of the comic books. Of course, I wasn't sure if it really was exclusive to Hot Topic, so I asked my youngest brother to accompany me to our local comic book store.

The comic book store is only about a ten minute walk from our place. The store is tiny and is more of an action figure shop than a comic book shop. They did have three stands of comic books with a larger bookcase near the back for the volumes and collections. I knew that comic books can get expensive and thought that I'd only find one comic series that I'd like. I was wrong.

Behold! The first pile of comics that I have ever purchased!

I didn't realize how much I liked reading comics until I was absorbing "it will all hurt" from Study Group Comics. I found out that it's the first printing of the online version and I'm not sure if they'll be publishing the rest of the comic in print. I'm hoping they do as I like to have hard copies of stories. My collection of comics is slowly, but surely growing. Just kidding, my collection is growing like a weed. I'm not just collecting comic books now. I'm collecting whatever catches my eyes. I am now the proud owner of....
  • A glow in the dark Harley Quinn Pop! Figure
  • A Harley Quinn Pop! Pin
  • A vinyl Hello Kitty Halloween Themed figure
  • A Loki figurine keychain
  • A Loki Pop! Pin
  • A Peter Pan figurine keychain
I also went to the comic book store yesterday to get the new issue of Paper Girls. I thought I was only going to buy that, but ended up with several comics and the Pop! pins mentioned above.

Comic books make me broke.

December Challenge 2015//First Impression of Alpha Sapphire

Hey guys!

*SOME GAMING SPOILERS. READ AT OWN RISK.

If you haven't noticed, I'm a huge nerd. You've seen my Geeky post series (which I might publish on a weekly schedule) and other various signs that I'm obviously into some hobbies that other people aren't into. It's alright though. I wear my Geek badge proudly. I recently got a 2DS in blue and the Pokemon Alpha Sapphire game. Alpha Sapphire is the remake of the Pokemom Sapphire released in 2002. I remember getting Ruby as a child because I loved the look of Groudon. I bought my copy at Kohl's who only had Alpha Sapphire, so I settled on the game. But make no mistake, I will definitely be buying Pokemon Omega Ruby. It's only a matter of time.

The moment I opened the game, I felt tears rushing to my eyes. Actual tears. I wasn't expecting the emotional outburst, but I guess nostalgia could do that to a person. I was in awe of the graphics. It was so different from the original 8-bit that I was surprised by the amount of detail that went into the work.

There was a lot of differences between the games. The way the routes were set up was very different from the original. And if you didn't know, the PokeNav (short for Pokemon Navigation), uses the maps from the original games. It was such a nice touch of love for the games that I almost cried right there.

One major difference I noticed right away was the area where certain Pokemon can be caught. I wasn't able to get Skitty until I had a few more badges, but you can find Skitty even without having a badge. Finding Ralts was difficult as they were hard to find in the original games, but are seen more frequently Route 104.

Another difference are the Pokemon Gyms. With the new graphics and design, the Gyms got a total make over. I'm currently on my way to defeat the second Gym leader, Brawly and his maze in Ruby and Sapphire has become more challenging and detailed. There's light switches and walking around in the dark. I love it.

One aspect of the game I found while writing this post and playing Pokemon, is that there seems to be tiny differences in the storyline and how towns and routes are arranged. I won't say much about what's going on, but I think the way Sapphire hid Kyogre will be vastly different in Alpha Sapphire.

All in all, I really like how my adventure is going in Alpha Sapphire. It's bringing a lot of nostalgia and I love how everything is pretty similar from the original.

But one question still plagues me. Why am I sitting in the back of the van?!

December Challenge 2015//NaNoWriMo Update & Other Plans

Hey guys!

If you haven't been keeping up with this little old blog of mine, then you wouldn't know that I had participated in NaNoWriMo last month. That's one reason why I haven't been updating as much as I like. I did end up winning this year, and a more extensive post can be found here on my book blog.

Speaking of my book blog, I'm thinking of doing more with it. I know, I know. I say that about every other month. This time, I have some ideas on ways to keep up with my blogs. I'm hopeful that I can find more time in second semester to use for blogging and writing.

Since I accomplished NaNoWriMo, I have the urge to keep going with my progress. The novel I started isn't done yet. I have key scenes and a general sense of the plot, but I still have a lot of work cut out for me. I'm really excited to keep writing. Maybe I can finally finish a story?

I've gotten very motivated to do well in school and have been reading College Info Geek and watching his YouTube videos. This isn't a sponsored post. I just love his work. Frank's work is very consistent and well researched which I love. His information about school and tips on motivation and other such topics are original and a huge improvement from what's been circulating around the Internet. I know, I'm guilty of writing about a few tips that have been over done, but what's special about Frank is that he accumulates information and uses citation from books to prove his point. I really love how he presents his information as it's a lot easier for me to want to implement his ideas since he has such a strong conviction in helping people do well in school. I definitely recommend him for anyone who likes well thought out and new ideas. Check out one of his video's down below!

Besides writing, blogging, and learning, I have decided to try to learn an instrument. An ocarina seems just the perfect instrument for me. It's small and easy to bring around in a purse. I do have a guitar which is gathering dust because I can't find anyone whose teaching style actually makes me want to learn.

There's a lot of ideas and plans that are bouncing around in my head, but the above goals are the ones that I'm currently working on.

Do you have any plans or habits you need to work on?

That's it for today! Thanks for reading!
