It's another week of going off my editorial calendar. It's slightly annoying, but I'm still adjusting to the new school semester. I have a tendency to work all at once which a bad habit that I'm trying to break. While typing this post, I actually have several assignments due tomorrow. What a procrastinator, right?
Besides agonizing over my productivity skills, I've listening to more TED Talks and podcasts. I enjoy learning new concepts, but some TED Talks are contradictory or have no clear point. I listen to them while doing something productive as a way to make sure I'm using my time wisely. Or as wisely as a procrastinator can.
Once this week's homework is over, I vowed that I'd start next week's homework immediately. Let's see if I can keep that promise.
Have spent the last couple of weeks tweet storming in support of sci-fi series Dark Matter, and wallowing in bubblegum pop music nostalgia. The Dark Matter campaign officially came to an end on September 23, with an acknowledgement of defeat (for now). Utilized YouTube as my go-to resource for downloading bubblegum tracks from music acts you've probably never hear of. Acts like Tommy Roe (Dizzy), Ohio Express (Yummy Yummy Yummy), 1910 Fruitgum Company (Simon Says), and The Archies (Sugar Sugar). Not the sort of music acts that won important awards, but they sold a ton of records.
ReplyDeleteOne of the guys I follow on Twitter is a big fan of the animated series Rick & Morty, so I've been checking out some episodes of season 3, the current season. It's an ultraviolent look at the dysfunctional family life of the world's greatest (and sociopathic) genius who drags his hapless grandson Morty on wildly dangerous adventures through time and across the universe. It's not for the faint of heart.
I saw a bit of what was going on with Dark Matter, but I don't have the full scoop. Is it being discontinued? On hiatus? I don't understand why as I saw an episode or two in season one. It looked like it was going to be a strong show. I'd take offence about not knowing those bubblegum tracks, but I'm pretty sure I'm too young to know those songs and artists.
DeleteMy younger brothers love Rick & Morty, so I had to give an episode to try. I think I jumped in on the wrong episode though because I just got really sad at the end of it. Maybe I'll put it on my "To Watch List" and start on the first season instead of a random episode in the middle of season 2 or 3.
